The last shooting 2017

December 19, 2017

Autumn and winter - these are totally difficult seasons for me. So unfriendly for a large format photographer. Many people are suprised how difficult it is to shoot with a heavy large format camera, how long it takes for just one shot to be created. It’s equally tough for a photographer and for a model, who has to pose steady for much longer. That's why I took photos in autumn and winter in my studio. Unfortunatelly the owner of that place had other plans for it, so I was forced to leave :(  So far I was unable to find another place with big windows only for my uncommercial shootings.

That’s why I have to look for different locations. A friend of mine, Maciej Koczorowski – a photographer but also a vocalist in a heavy metal band Chainsaw - told me about an amazing place, a palace in Ostromecko near Bydgoszcz. To be honest, I already have enough of photo shootings in palaces, but it was an option. I thought maybe I could shoot something different than a typical beauty „princess“ in an evening dress. I remembered that a familiar designer, Magdalena Wilk-Dryło, posted pictures with modern latex dresses on her instagram. I thought that it would be funny to show those completely present-day dresses in an old, serious and conservative palace.

I was arranged with a fantastic, beautiful model, Klaudia. She found the rest of our team: make up artist Julita and hairdresser Patryk. It was absolutely a dream team! It is really so important to work and to shoot in a great atmosphere.

I arrived in Bydgoszcz after a three-hour car drive because of a sudden snowstorm but I still had enough energy to shoot for about four hours, running from one floor to another. Obviously the weather was adverse. I took the initial pictures with a natural light, but later I had to help myself with continuous light. As usual I shot on instant film and b&w 4x5‘ sheet film.

Big thanks to the team and to the owner of the Palace in Ostromecko!
